John Paul Gaynor

September 19, 1974 — August 9, 2016

John Paul Gaynor was born on September 19, 1974 in Washington, D.C. to Paul "Frank" Gaynor and Janene Gaynor. As a boy, he was adorable, sweet, shy and had big blue eyes and cute grin. He was a huge fan of Star Wars, loved turtles, skateboarding, mountain biking and Pop Warner football. He also loved gummy bears. John grew into a handsome man, with a great sense of humor that he maintained throughout his life, along with pride in his Irish heritage. He was passionate about fishing, especially in the ocean, enjoyed jet skiing, was a strong swimmer and having grown up in the D.C. area, was a staunch Redskin fan. John became a restaurant manager, but was also an exceptional cook. When his Grandpa developed dementia, to enable him to stay in his home, John moved in with him. After that he launched a successful landscape company, which he ran successfully for fifteen years. He had many satisfied customers because he was a gifted landscape designer. In 2009, John survived a horrendous motorcycle accident, in which he sustained a traumatic brain injury despite wearing his helmet. John was never the same again. He lived with debilitating chronic pain, which eventually forced him to shut down his landscape business. Despite his difficult circumstances, he still managed to lead a full life with many friends, his beloved golden retriever, Abby, and his sweetheart, Karen. John was preceded in death by his dad, Frank Gaynor, and his sweetheart, Karen Rolston. He is survived by his mom, Janene Gaynor, older sister, Lauren Gill (Ralph), younger brother, Michael Gaynor (Stephanie Tovar), nephew, Evan Gill, niece, Ariana Gill, and several other loving family members.
A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held August 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Lifepoint Church, 4501 Hedgcoxe Rd, Plano, Texas 75024. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Center for Brain Health, 2200 West Mockingbird Lane, Dallas Texas 75235 in John Gaynor's memory.
