Wesley Emerson Durland was born May 3, 1939 in Kelso, Washington to Jean Hageman Durland and Frank Emerson Durland. The family moved to Lyons, Oregon in May of 1955. He graduated from Stayton Union High School and was then drafted into the Army, serving two years. His brother Frank joined the Army so they could serve together and they traveled extensively throughout Germany and Europe during their leave time.
Upon being discharged from the Army, both Wes and Frank traveled across the United States holding revival meetings where many came to know Jesus as their Savior were and were healed. He Pastored in his earlier years and he later got hooked up with a power team that traveled into jails and he loved to preach on the Indian reservations. He would always brag how he could rip a telephone book in half.
Wesley married Mary Ruth LaPera in 1962. They had one child, Alisa Dawn Durland Burns and four grandchildren; Caleb Burns, Ashley Burns, Christian Burns and Charity Burns. In addition to his daughter and four grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Frank Eugene Durland and his sister Donna Durland Brumley.
Wesley resided in Central Oregon and was in sales as an HVAC engineer until his retirement in the spring of 2016.
Wesley had a great impact on everyone he met, telling them of the love of Jesus and the importance of knowing you are going to Heaven when you die. Along with finding out the new joke of the day.
