Alisha Winters Devlin

September 7, 1962 — July 6, 2016

Alisha (Lisa) Devlin, 53, passed away July 6, 2016 in Plano TX after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Her memorial service will take place on July 16, 2016 at 10:00am at Custer Road Methodist Church - 6601 Custer Road, Plano, TX 75023.
She was born on September 7, 1962 in Lubbock Tx. She always liked to point out that she shared the same birthday as Buddy Holly. As a child she also lived briefly in Georgia and North Carolina, before coming back to Lubbock.
In Lubbock, she graduated from Monterey High School and was active in drama and was on the swim team. After high school she attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and then moved to Abilene TX where she obtained a masters degree in Psychology from Harden Simmons. She felt called to the profession as she truly enjoyed helping others and her friends would always seek her counsel.
In 1995 she married Carlton Devlin also from Lubbock and settled in the DFW area, eventually Plano TX. In 1998 she gave birth to her pride and joy - twin boys Trevor and Nathaniel Devlin. Once the boys were born she decided she would put her career aspirations on hold for a while and devote her time to raising the boys. During this time she was an active PTA member, Cub Scout den leader, basket ball coach, homemaker, and AVON representative.
In 2008 she was diagnosed with cancer and thus began the battle. She is an inspiration to many because of how she dealt with her disease. Never once asking "why me", she was determined to continue living her life normally. She always attributed her strength as coming from God and had an unwavering belief in God's grace. It was around this time that she became a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano.
She loved life and the companionship of friends and family. She loved her Texas Tech Red Raider football and had interests in scrapbooking, floral arrangements, poetry, investing, politics, and music.
She will be missed by all whose hearts she touched. She will remain an inspiration for her courage, strength, and faith in God.
She is survived by her parents David Sr. and Alberta Winters of Lubbock TX; brother Stephen Winters of Lubbock TX and his spouse; brother David Winters Jr. of Round Rock TX and his spouse; 4 nephews and their children and 1 niece.
