Margaret Mary Tischio

June 17, 1929 — July 4, 2016

Margaret Mary (Gallagher) Tischio, 87, of Plano, Texas, passed away after a brief illness, on July 4, 2016. In her final days, she was cared for by the wonderful nurses, doctors, and technicians at The Medical Center of Plano Neuro-ICU.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Rose Gallagher, and her sisters Rose Marie Corbett and Claire Whalen.
She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Michael (Cindy), Paul, Bob, Judy Corveleyn (Eric), Mary Blackinton (Tami), Karen Ritter (Edward), Meg Bright (Al); fourteen grandchildren and their spouses, Bob (Jillian), Zachary (Amber), Nicholas, Jonathan (Christine), Christine, Amanda, Marissa, Caitlyn, Danny, Ed, Lauren, Christopher, Elizabeth and Albert; and six great- grandchildren, Cody, Hazel, Isla, Josiah, Charlotte and Riley. Margaret also leaves behind many loving friends and family members in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, and California. She will be dearly missed by her close friends at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and in the Plano, TX community, where she has lived with daughter Karen's family for the past 4 years.
Margaret graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy in 1951 at a time when there were very few women in college or the pharmacy profession. Although she took time to raise her seven children, she intermittently worked in retail pharmacy and later in hospital pharmacy. She was an avid reader, traveler, cook, and card player. She was a lifelong learner, including attending classes at the S.A.I.L. Program at Collin College. Margaret lived her Catholic faith, serving others throughout her lifetime-most recently those at My Friend's House where she volunteered by shopping and cooked dinners.
Her greatest passions were visiting with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces/nephews as well as keeping track of all pertinent milestones, holidays, and family events in order to send greeting cards for each and every occasion. Although she preferred phone calls and writing letters, Margaret also used texting and social media to connect with all those she loved.
The family will receive friends at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2700 West Spring Creek Parkway in Plano TX from 7:00 - 9:00PM on Friday, July 8th; with a Funeral Mass, also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, on Saturday July 9th at 11:00AM with a reception to follow.
