Beverly Lewis

May 16, 1945 — June 11, 2016

Beverly Lewis was born May 16, 1945 to Cecil and Edna Miller. She was the 3rd of 7 children: Carol, Kenneth, Beverly, Robert, Bruce, James, and Donald.
She alwaus loved and cared for animals. One of her fondest childhood memories was doing homework and napping while on the back of her favorite Mare Judy.
Beverly grew up in Belton and Grandview Missouri, working briefly as a car-hop, and even managed to get on an episode of American Bandstand when it filmed in Kansas City before she graduated from Grandview High School.
In 1963 Beverly had a son David, married Charles Lewis and moved to Jadon Missouri.
She moved frequently with Charlie, living in Greenwood, Belton, Prospect, Peculiar, Grandview, and Lee's Summit Missouri.
She worked as a station attendant and mechanic, specializing in brakes, carburetors, and tires. She could break down and change a split-rim tractor-trailer tire in less than 3 minutes.
In 1969 She followed Charlie to Denver and then Golden Colorado, for 3 years working as a service station attendant. They made the local news in Denver after the station they worked at was robbed at gun point 3 weeks in a row all the attendants began carrying sidearms. - At the time open carry was legal- the station was never robbed again while they were there.
They left Colorado when her Dad, Cecil got sick with a ruptured gall bladder, and never made it back.
In 1979 they moved to Duncanville Texas, and started working as a custodian at Duncanville High School. In Texas they lived in Duncanville, Lancaster, Red Oak, Plano, and Van Alstyne.
Beverly started working at Plano ISD in 1984 working at PSHS where she was the subject of campus newspaper articles on service and consistency, she also worked at Wilson Middle School, and finished her career at Holifield Outdoor Learning Center, where she worked for 10 years. Her only granddaughter Aubrey was born in 1999 during the time she worked at Holifield.
The things that she was most proud of were her family and that was able to act on her love of animals in a meaningful way.

Beverly always tried to be a friend to everyone around her.
