Charles E Carroll

October 12, 1932 — June 9, 2016

Charles was born on 12 October 1932 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood in Mooreland and Woodward, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas where he graduated high school. In 1952, he joined the United States Air Force. While stationed at Frances C. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he met Frances Johnson. After a short courtship, they married and began what would turn into 61 years of love, happiness and adventure. They spent the next twenty years serving his country before retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his career, he received numerous awards but the one he was proudest of was the Bronze Star he received after his tour of duty in Vietnam (one of the highest honors an enlisted person can receive). The next 20 years were spent working for Western Farmers Electric Power Company in Oklahoma before retiring for good in 1994.

He and Frances spent their early years of retirement as full time RV'ers, traveling the country 8 months a year and wintering in south Texas the other 4. After 5 years on the road, they traded their RV in for a trailer and stayed in south Texas year round. These years were spent enjoying the year round warm weather and doing the things he loved most Golf, Bowling and just spending time with Frances.
In 2005 they moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma to begin 10 years of what was his most noble and selfless act any one can do, caring for others. First, helping both his mom and sister as they struggled with health issues. The next 9 years was spent at first helping and then at the end providing total care for his wife, Frances as she battled Alzheimer's. He continued to do this clear up to the time she passed away at home in 2015. This was done while he was battling COPD himself.
Charles lost his battle with COPD and passed away on 9 June 2016 at the age of 83, going to be with his wife of 61 years in heaven. He is survived by his children Martha (Marty) Carroll, Thomas (Tom) Carroll and his wife Edna and Charles (Chuck) Carroll and his wife Teresa; grandchildren Cezar, Kate, Karyl, Caroline, Darrel, Trisha and Kristine and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, two daughters Bonnie and Beth and son Charles Victor; along with both parents and a brother and a sister.

A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Allen Family Funeral Options. A funeral service will begin at 11:15am. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 1:15pm at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
