William Michael Johnston

William Michael Johnston was born November 2, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Daniel and Dorothy (Mc Donough) Johnston. He passed away May 21, 2016 in Plano, Texas.
Michael was hard working from a young age, he was a true business-man. Before setting out into the world of finance, he proudly served in the United States Navy at the U.S. Naval Communication Station, Key West, Florida. He received his Bachelor's degree from Villanova University, Class of 1978 and went on to earn his graduate degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After playing semi-pro football and a short stint as a wrestler under the name "The Purple People Eater," he started his career working for Warner Brothers as a Public Relations Representative. During this time, he was also an active member of the United States Jaycees in Willingboro, New Jersey. He then worked as a Collections Manager for Mobile Oil and Dunn and Bradstreet until becoming a Certified Financial Manager for Merrill Lynch. After working as a VP for Prudential Bache, he took a position with Dean Witter where he worked his way from Senior Branch Manager to Vice President and had the opportunity to travel Texas from Dallas, to Amarillo, and to Houston. He moved back home to Dallas to work for a brief time with Solomon Smith Barney before becoming a business owner of Dunn, Johnston & Brown, where he worked until retirement. Michael is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky) Johnston, daughters Christine (CJ) Wood, Rachael Johnston Holder, Katie Ann Johnston, Sarah V Johnston and Elizabeth Mae Johnston and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son William Michael Johnston, Jr. (Mikey). The family will receive friends for a visitation Friday, May 27, 2016 from 7-9:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas. A funeral service to celebrate Michael's life will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 5930 Alma Dr., Plano, Texas. Michael will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery, Rockwall, Texas following the service.
