Kazuko Scott

March 9, 1955 — May 3, 2016

Kazuko Scott was born March 9, 1955 in Japan to parents Kenji and Masumi (Egami) Dan. She passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on May 3, 2016. Kazuko came to the U.S. in 1983 to marry her husband, Raymond. They met in Japan while they were both working for an English language school. Through Raymond's testimony, she accepted Christ and they began their life together in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1985 they had their only son, Michael. Kazuko had always had a genuine love for people, and after accepting Christ as her savior, that love just increased all the more. She was always making new friends, inviting exchange students to their house just to share the American life style with them. They moved to Plano in 1987 and Kazuko began to teach Japanese at the local community college. Her students became like family members, she would counsel them and give advice on life decisions, and if they asked, she would share her faith with them. Raymond would often come home to find a bunch of students just hanging out with Kazuko. She taught there for 15 years. During that time she was also very active in church, singing with the worship team and leading a life group. She loved to sing, especially praise songs. After leaving teaching, she became a professional interpreter, worked with the local Japanese community and helped people with doctor and dental visits. She helped pregnant ladies deliver babies and taught them how to get things done in this American society. She taught ladies English class in her home and would host an annual Christmas lunch where she would take the opportunity to share the story of Christ and the reasons for her faith. Over the years, several would accept Christ and go back to Japan to share their faith there. Raymond and Kazuko later joined Chase Oaks Church where she again sang with the worship team and led a life group with Raymond. Everyone she met, she showed a genuine interest in. Their life group later became involved with the Young Adults group at Chase Oaks Church and again Kazuko treated those young people with all the love she carried in her heart. She lived a life of loving Christ and loving others, just the way it should be. Kazuko is survived by her loving husband Raymond Scott, son Michael Scott, father Kenji Dan and his wife Chizuko, brother Koji Dan and his wife Tomoko. She was preceded in death by her mother Masumi Dan. A memorial service to celebrate and honor Kazuko's life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Chase Oaks Church, 201 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75023. If desired contributions may be made in Kazuko's name to Chase Oaks Church, 241 Legacy Dr. Plano, Texas 75023 with "General Fund - Kazuko Scott" in the memo line.
