Blaine Gentry Smith was born in Spring, Texas September 17, 1979 and grew up in Magnolia, Arkansas. From birth he courageously faced many medical trials and overcame them with dignity, grace and humor. His childlike faith, even in the most difficult times, never wavered. He was a selfless individual who always considered others more than himself. He never met a stranger and could easily find joy in every situation.
Growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and golf. He loved hunting, fishing, and doing anything outdoors. When he was 12 years old he once again defied all odds and miraculously recovered from a devastating injury. Through it all his faith, family and friends remained the focus of his life.
He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1998 and then attended Richland College in Dallas, Texas. His family later moved to Plano, Texas due to the complexity of his medical care. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Magnolia and Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and his faith was an example to all those who knew him.
He loved spending summers hunting and fishing with his dad and good friends in Colorado. The highlight of every year was Mountain High Camp in Red River New Mexico where he developed life long friendships. He would visit his sister often and loved spending time with her friends by celebrating birthdays and other holidays. He would fly to San Diego as often as he could to visit his sister, brother-in-law and his close family friends. He grew up a razorback fan but was converted to an honorary aggie by his brother-in-law and they loved watching the football games together.
Blaine loved well and was loved by all. His heart of gold will be greatly missed but his family has peace knowing that his earthly body is finally healed. We know that he was welcomed by Jesus saying, "well done my good and faithful servant." We love you Blaine.
He is survived by his parents Larry and Carolyn Smith of Plano, Texas; his sister Paige and brother-in-law Andrew Martin of Dallas, Texas; his two nephews, that he dearly loved, Asher Andrew and Isaac Blaine; one aunt, Nancy Stutts, of Bastrop, Louisiana; six cousins, Jason and Tessa Stutts, Justin and Jessica Stutts of Bonita, Louisiana, and Chuck, Alanna and Bill Smith and Jeannie and Allen Carter all of Greenville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Carl Smith and Bessie Smith; maternal grandparents Zollan and Goldean Stutts (Z.N. and Vera); aunts and uncles Charles Smith (Candy) and Jerry Stutts.
A Visitation will take place at 1:00pm on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas 75093. The Funeral Service is at 2:00pm, also at Prestonwood Baptist Church the Dr. Jarrett Stephens officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jason Stutts, Justin Stutts, Chuck Smith, Bill Smith, Kirk Jones, and Andrew Martin. Honorary Pallbearers are Trent sanders, Greg Rich, Don Ray, Greg Pilgrim, Glen Nichols and all of Blaine's hunting and fishing buddies.
