James Edward Lynn was born on March 1, 1934, to Marabelle Fern Leonard and Walter Ensign Lynn in Canfield, Ohio. Jim loved growing up in that small town with his younger brother, and a host of relatives close by. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1956. Following college he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Jim married Judy Cohan on July 26, 1958. The births of three children followed in the next seven years. After military service, Jim worked for a large company and moved often as he progressed up the corporate ladder. In 1972 his work took the Lynn's to Walnut Creek, California, where God became a primary influence in their lives as individuals, as well as a family. During this time, Jim's special verse became Jeremiah 29:11, and remained so for the rest of his life on this earth. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. Plans for good, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." A career change brought Jim to the Dallas area in 1976, and a long-standing friendship with Dr. Gene Getz. The family of faith that embraced the Lynn's at Fellowship Bible Church (now Chase Oaks Church) helped Jim grow in wisdom, and become the godly leader of the wonderful family he leaves behind now, but will see again one day in heaven. Jim always said he wanted to die in his home and that wish was granted after a long 3 months of hospital and rehab stays. He was surrounded by friends and family and received excellent care through New Century Hospice. Jim is survived by the love of his life and wife of over 59 years, Judy Lynn.
