Marcy was born on Feb 4, 1932, in Blevins, Arkansas. She was the youngest of three daughters of Cecil and Mary Smith. She grew up in Hope, Arkansas, and graduated as valedictorian of Hope High School in 1950. She went to work at University of Arkansas and met the love of her life, John White. He was studying to be a chemical engineer. They married in 1957. Her husband John took a job in St. Louis, Mo, where they raised their family and lived for over 40 years. They had three children, Karen, Kraig and Kathy. She went back to school and finished both her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She taught school for 19 years. All three of her children are happily married and she has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Five years ago, Marcy and John moved to Plano, TX, to be closer to family. Marcy was an avid sports fan and specifically a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals. We grew up hearing her call the Hogs in the living room in front of the TV. She was a godly Christian woman and active member at South County Baptist Church for most of her life. She was an avid reader, loved bowling, bird watching, gardening, crocheting and walking. She was also very politically astute and engaged and kept up with all current events. She loved her family above all, and was truly loved in return by everyone around her. She was very independent and a source of inspiration to so many. She will be dearly missed.
