Marshall V Kellar Iii

January 18, 1950 — February 10, 2016

Marshall was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Marshall Vernon and Dorothy Mae McCullers Kellar, who preceded him in death. He attended St. Ignatius grammar school, St. Thomas More High School and played football at Penn State for one year before an injury ended his career. He came to San Antonio to attend St. Mary's University, earning a degree in theater.
His long career in the food service industry included stints at St. Mary's University, Our Lady of the Lake University, University of Houston, Prairie View A&M, University of Dallas, St. Paul Hospital and Three Fountains.
He was the consummate host making sure his guests were well fed with the gourmet delicacies he was known for, particularly his gumbo and ribs. Even when he was in the hospital he would offer his visitors their choice of beverages as if they were entertaining at home.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dr. Patricia Jeffrey Kellar, three beautiful daughters, Rachel (Jesus) Kellar Martinez of Olton, Jessica Kellar and Theresa Kellar of Dallas, and one grandson, Marshall Jesus Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Dr. Almetia Kellar Strother, Sandra (Ralph) Barrett and Barbara (Leslie) Bullock, mother-in-law Mary Ann Jeffrey , brothers-in-law Jim (Betty) Jeffrey, Robert (Edie) Jeffrey and Jerry (Dionna) Jeffrey, and sister-in-law Kathleen Jeffrey and nieces and nephews George, Marla, Jared, Juliann, Jana, Jamie, Jerry, Blake, McKenna, Cheryl and great-nephews Avery, Kingston, Amari and William.
A giving and gregarious man, he was generous with both his time and his talent. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 S. Floyd Road, Richardson, Texas 75080. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 also at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father David Flori, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
If desired, donations may be made in Marshall's name to the National Kidney Foundation, https://www.kidney.org/support or to the charity of your choice.
