Norman Payne

Norman Keith Payne was born on July 27, 1933 in Allen, Oklahoma to parents Johnnie W. and Nellie Poole Payne. He passed from this life on February 1, 2016 at the age of 82. Norman met his wife Betty when she was 15 and he was 16 - their love story continued for 63 years. He embarked on a 26-year Air Force military career at the age of 18, which included four states, four foreign countries, and combat tours. He concluded his federal service after 18 years with U.S. Customs. Norman's greatest accomplishment was raising his family, whom he placed first in his life. A giving and generous man, Norman could build or fix virtually anything, which he did for anyone in need. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Betty Payne and children Richard Payne and his wife Lonnie, Terri Cloum and her husband Stephen, and James Payne and his wife Peggy, grandchildren Stephen Payne and his wife Cynthia, Ryan Payne and his wife Felisha, Kristin Payne, Marissa Godwin and her husband Bobby, Ashley Payne, Caitlin Jones and her husband Max and Kayla Payne, great-grandchildren Mason Sughrue, Riley Payne, Emma Payne and Grace Coppenbarger. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Jones and brother James C. Payne. The family will greet friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Allen Family Funeral Options. Norman will be laid to rest at 11:15 am on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery with military honors. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm at Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Rd., Plano, Texas 75023 with Pastor Wes Brown officiating. Flowers for the visitation on Wednesday may be delivered to the funeral home prior to 5:00 pm. Deliveries on Thursday should go directly to Hunters Glen Baptist Church.
