Linda Bartlett

Linda Grace (Whitt) Bartlett, 68, of Richardson, TX passed away after a brief illness at 12:20pm on Monday, January 25, 2016. She was born and raised in Muenster, TX and was the youngest and only girl of four children. After graduating from Muenster High School, Linda earned her Bachelors of Science in nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX in 1971. In the summer of 1969, while Linda was still attending nursing school, she met Dan Bartlett on a blind date set up by mutual friends. Six months later, the two would get married. They would enjoy 46 years of marriage before Linda's passing, a testament to their love and commitment to one another. Dan and Linda had three children: oldest son Christopher (born 1974), daughter Hollie (born 1979), and son Jonathan (born 1984). She is predeceased by her parents, brother Billy Whitt, and oldest son Christopher who lost a lengthy battle to cancer in 2002. Her children were the pride of her life. Linda dedicated most of her life to tenderly serving children as a pediatric nurse and as a school nurse at Memorial Elementary School in Plano, TX, where she retired from in 2004. While she never had any grandchildren, she undoubtedly had an impact on the lives of innumerable children during her nursing career. In the last several years, Linda had taken up walking for exercise and would cover 2-3 miles a day, while her husband and dog desperately tried to keep up for at least part of it. Linda was a genuine and caring woman with a smile that would immediately bring joy to those she encountered. Throughout her life, Linda maintained a strong faith in the Lord, something that was always evident in the quality of her character. She is home now and reunited with her dear son. Linda is survived by her husband Dan Bartlett: daughter Hollie Bartlett Dawson; son Jonathan (Jon) Bartlett; brothers, Don Whitt (Gerry) and James Whitt (Kathy); and sister in law Freda Whitt. A memorial service will be held at Meadows Baptist Church 3001 Los Rios Boulevard in Plano, TX at 2:00pm on Friday, January 29, 2016.
