Michael Chisholm

July 27, 1947 — December 5, 2015

Michael was born July 27, 1947 in Hayward, California to a police officer and homemaker, Jim and Ellen Chisholm. He grew up idolizing big brother Ronnie and loving baseball. Michael graduated from UCLA with a degree in Art History. Most of his working life revolved around medical sales - hips, knees, fingers and toe implants. Michael met his wife Kandy in Simi Valley, California on a blind date by a mutual friend in January 1979, proposed three weeks later and married her in April, becoming an instant Dad to Gary (10) and Vicki (8). That was 36 years ago. During the courtship Michael also found the Lord and was baptized. Church has been a big part of his life in every town he lived.
The first 14 years were treasured times of moving coast to coast and points in between. He enjoyed each area of the US and loved to see the sights wherever he was. Then, with Gary and Vicki grown and several grandchildren having arrived, Michael and Kandy settled in North Texas to be near all of them. He felt very blessed at this time. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed getting to see them often. Michael semi-retired in his early fifties and then fully retired three years ago. He took charge of planning family events (where he did much of the meal planning and cooking - a very good cook!) He planned all the sibling trips, timeshare trips, cruises, and UCLA "follow the team" trips. His family was blessed to have such an involved Dad. Michael also enjoyed golf, all his dogs through the years, roller coaster (for sure), The Beach Boys and Frankie Valli. Michael loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was loved, liked and admired by many and will be greatly missed. He will rest in the arms of Jesus and this will be his best Christmas ever! Michael is survived by his loving wife Kandy Chisholm, son Gary Halberstadt and daughter in law Stephanie, daughter Vicki Perez, grandchildren Cory and Brittani Halberstadt, Kaitlyn Anable and her husband Timothy, Jessica and Isabella Perez, great grandson Landon Anable, brother Ronnie Chisholm and his wife Mary and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Michael's life on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options with Pastor Aaron Lipman officiating. A reception will follow the service.
