Mitchell (Mitch) Mohanna

March 2, 1952 — October 25, 2015

Mitch Mohanna, 63, died October 25, 2015, at his home in Plano, Texas.
Mitch was born to Dick and Jean Mohanna in Bassett, Nebraska, on March 2, 1952. He spent most of his childhood in Cairo, Nebraska, where he graduated from high school in 1970.
Mitch earned his bachelor's degree in advertising/journalism at the University of Nebraska where he met his wife Jarren in 1973. The couple moved to Plano, Texas, in 1979 and married soon afterward in 1980.
In 1979, Mitch founded Mohanna Sales Representatives, a publishers' representative firm which he ran successfully with his wife until his death.
Mitch's hobbies included Toastmasters, swimming, traveling, singing, and most of all, spending time with his family. He had a passion for the English language, and he developed his vocabulary and public speaking skills throughout his life. He also loved growing trees in his back yard, and the trees he planted at Carlisle Elementary and other Plano locations are still standing.
While he was a tireless worker and successful businessman, Mitch will be most remembered as a loving father, son, brother, husband, and friend to members of his community.
One of his greatest joys in life was raising his three children, and he held a vast treasure trove of stories about their childhood that he told frequently. He encouraged them to participate in a variety of activities and was deeply involved in Indian Guides, Indian Princesses, and Boy Scouts as well as their numerous athletic and musical pursuits.
Mitch loved interacting with people, and he was a joy to talk to and spend time with. His intelligence, unique insight, gregarious personality, and ability to encourage and inspire confidence in others will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jarren; daughter McCall, sons Mason and Mark; mother Jean; brother Tim (Louise). Additional survivors include sister-in-law Jan Johnson (Steve); niece Stephanie Alsbrooks; nephews Brad Johnson, and Rosh Mohanna. A memorial service to celebrate Mitch's life will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
