Robert "B.T." Edward Thomas, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.
B.T. was born in Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated from Catonsville High School in 1966. His passion for golf started at an early age when he worked as a golf caddy in Maryland. He later enjoyed a 25-year career as a PGA Golf Professional which began in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as the Head Golf Professional for The Country Club of Hilton Head, Director of Golf for The Golf Club at Indigo Run and The Golden Bear Golf Club. In 1998, B.T. transferred to Brookhaven Country Club of Dallas where he dedicated 10 years to the success of tournament operations and member and charity golf events. He loved coordinating and hosting the annual member golf trips to Hilton Head and the Masters Golf Tournament. He was the Director of Golf with Prestonwood Country Club of Dallas from 2008 to 2013.
B.T. served on the Club Corp National Golf Committee and as President of the Hilton Head Island Golf Professionals Association. He also served on the teaching staff of Hilton Head Island Junior Golf Academy and enjoyed mentoring countless junior and beginner golfers throughout his career.
In addition to his passion for golf, B.T. loved his family and friends (furry friends included), good music (The Eagles), his beautiful plumeria plants, vacationing in Maui and spending time with his beloved wife Dena and dog Bentley.
Those who knew B.T., described him as the nicest, kindest and most caring person they have ever met. B.T.'s positive presence was felt wherever he would go. His warm and magnetic personality, quick wit and great sense of humor lived up to his 6 ft. 4 in physique. B.T. was a pillar of strength whom is loved by all.
B.T. was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Thomas, brother Larry Thomas, sister Joan Millenburg, nephew Derek Millenburg and loving dogs (black labs) Jake and Harley.
B.T. is survived by his loving wife Dena Thomas of The Colony, Texas, daughter Cindy Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona and son Brent Thomas of Hampstead, Maryland, grandchildren Brittany, Brent Jr. and Kristin Thomas and beloved dog and "best friend" Bentley. He is also survived by his treasured nieces and nephews Donna Thomas Smith, Brenda Thomas Spencer, Larry Thomas Jr., Greg Millenburg, Dena Millenburg Baxter and Karen Millenburg Lancaster.
B.T. is deeply missed. He will live in our hearts forever.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6-8 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options on Monday, October 26, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. The family suggests memorials be made in BT's name to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, North Texas Chapter, Dallas Office, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Ste. 425, Dallas, TX 75251, (972)996-5919 or to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W.
