Robert E Hunt

Robert E Hunt passed away on October 3, 2015 in Allen, Texas. He was born April 17, 1934 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Gilbert and Leona Hunt. Bob enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1953 and served with the 1st Marine Division in Korea and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. After separation from the Marine Corp, Bob went back to school earning an Associate Degree from Tyler Junior College. While going to school, he also worked at night for Ideal Bakery in Tyler making hamburger buns. Bob was employed by IBM Federal Systems Divisions in Huntsville, Alabama during the early days of the space program. He was part of the team that built the Instrument Unit that housed the computers that were the brains and guidance system for the Saturn V Rocket that sent a man to the moon. Bob was transferred to Manassas, Virginia in 1974 and retired as manager of Subcontracts Procurement Federal Systems Division after 35 years of service. Bob loved camping, fishing and building things. But most of all he loved his home and family. He had many interests and hobbies which included restoring and repairing clocks. After retirement Bob opened the Heritage Clock Repair Shop. He was also a member of Ben Hur Shriners in Austin, Texas and San Gabriel Masonic Lodge No. 89 in Georgetown, Texas. Bob is survived by his wife Gayle Hunt, daughter Teresa Lynn Jensen and her husband Mike, son Robert M Hunt, grandsons Michael Dewayne Jensen, Kenneth Jensen and his wife Jungah, Sam Hunt, granddaughter Sophia Hunt, great grandsons Michael Jensen, Julian Jensen and great granddaughter Ava Jensen. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry Wayne Hunt. A funeral service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:30 AM at Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023 with Reverend Cecil Price, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services (10:30 AM) and light refreshments will be served.
