Jerry Shipp

Jerry Bart Shipp passed away peacefully on September 28, 2015. He was born on May 3, 1939 in Sherman, Texas to L.B. Shipp, Jr. and Jane S. Shipp.
He is survived by his children, Douglas (Andy) Shipp and David B. Shipp and wife Paige; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Webb Shipp, two grandsons, David Shipp Jr. and Mitchell Shipp, and sister Alyce Brunson.
Jerry was reared in Hearne and Victoria, Texas where his father was an agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He served as a diplomatic courier and security officer in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1966, he relocated with his family to Dallas, Texas and joined Anderson Clayton Foods where he ultimately served as Vice President of Retail Products.
In 1988 he moved to Omaha, Nebraska as President of Vick's Gourmet Popping Corn and in 1991 he relocated to Chicago, Illinois as President and General Manager of Universal Edible Oils. Following the sale of this company, he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas with his wife Elizabeth, a Corpus Christi native.
Jerry will be remembered for his colorful stories, love of decorating and a meticulous green thumb. His sarcasm and sense of humor kept his friends and family laughing, in any situation. He adored his grandsons and they will miss his kindness and caring spirit.
