Suzanne Robinson

June 24, 1948 — August 31, 2015

Suzanne "Suzi" Frohock Robinson of Plano, Texas, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at the age of 67 in the home of her daughter.
Suzi was born on June 24, 1948, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Ben and Wilma (Schurter) Frohock. Before the age of three, she suffered nerve damage after an illness and was left with complete hearing loss. Subsequently, her parents enrolled her in the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she learned to read lips and lived with the family of Emerson "Cotton" and Natalie Smith of Oklahoma City until the 6th grade. During her 7th grade year, she attended public school and lived with the Mosshart family, also of Oklahoma City, before returning to Blackwell for the remainder of her high school days. She was a 1967 graduate of Blackwell High School and attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where she received an Associate's Degree in Commercial Arts in 1969.
Suzi worked as a paper girl during her Blackwell school years, delivering newspapers around the town by bicycle. After college, Suzi took her degree to Springfield, Missouri, and began her 27 year graphic artist career at Lily Tulip Corporation (now Sweetheart Cup Company). After that, she moved to Plano, Texas and worked at the Deaf Action Center before she retired to be a full time grandmother.
Suzi loved sports and grew up playing softball, tennis, basketball and golf as well as taking judo lessons. She had a love for swimming, and while she was not on a swim team, she swam often and always followed that workout with a half-gallon carton of Braum's vanilla ice cream, never gaining any weight! She focused on bowling as an adult and played weekly in a Springfield bowling league at Sherm Lollar Lanes (now Enterprise Park Lanes). She also enjoyed watching most sports on TV and was an avid Cowboys fan.
Suzi was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer which affects the plasma cells of the bone marrow, in 2005. The Myeloma was monitored for several years until it became active. She began aggressive treatment with chemotherapy in 2010 through Texas Oncology at Medical City Dallas under the care of Dr. Vikas Bhushan, M.D. and Jennifer Potter, P.A. and underwent two stem cell transplants by 2012.
Suzi is survived by her daughter D'Lynn Avila and her husband Irving of Murphy, Texas, grandchildren Mateo and Tomás Avila of Murphy, Texas, her son Stacy Robinson of Springfield, Missouri, her sister Laurell Stevens and her husband Phil of Cedar Hill, Texas, her sister Loretta Smith of Berryville, Arkansas and her son Gregg Jewsbury and his wife Michelle of Berryville, Arkansas, her brother Ron Frohock and his wife Twila Frohock of Plano, Texas, and their son Brian Frohock of Garland, Texas with his children Preston and Chloe' Frohock and their mother Donna Schaefer of Plano, Texas and their daughter Marcilina Garcia and her husband Luis Garcia of Plano, Texas, with their children Rafael and Gabriela Garcia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Linda Jewsbury, and a nephew, Lee Stephens.
The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options.
A memorial service to celebrate Suzi's life will be held Friday, September 4th, at 1:30 PM at Chase Oaks Church, 281 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75025. A reception will follow immediately following the service.
If desired, the family request donations are made in Suzi's memory to the Chronic Disease Fund, a major contributor to the many purchases of her chemotherapy medicines over the years. http://www.gooddaysfromcdf.org/
