Joe Bollinger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married his wife, Irma Galindo, on November 24, 1965 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. He was a 1960 graduate of Athens High School and a graduate of Texas Tech University. He served in the Air National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Afterward, he worked for General Dynamics, Ralston Purina, and Clark Equipment before becoming the Physical Plant Director at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. In 2003, he retired after 22 years with the college. In 2012, he and his wife moved to Frisco, TX to live closer to their children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, he generously donated his time to various community organizations and his church.
He loved gardening, tinkering, watching the news, RVing with his wife, and working in his workshop. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great-children, who were his greatest joys. He was a very honest man who always spoke his mind. He enjoyed meeting new people everywhere he went. He will be missed for his knowledge, humor, and his dedication to his family and loved ones.
Joe passed away on July 7, 2015 in his home, under hospice care, with his loving wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irma; sons Robert and his wife Becky of Frisco, TX; Joe and his wife Julie of Arlington, TX; and daughter Marisa George and her husband Patrick of Plano, TX; his grandchildren Samantha Suhler, Shanda Griffon, Tyler and Tori Bollinger, Andi and Michael George, and by his great-grandchildren Stone Griffon and Sam and Max Suhler.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in his honor on Monday, July 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75023. If desired, contributions may be made in his name to South Plains College or to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Foundation (www.mds-foundation.org).
