Kathryne Weekley

Ronda Kathryne Weekley, 83 of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on July 5, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer.
Kathryne (Kate) was born to Soloman Burrell and Lessie Belle Lee on February 28, 1932 in Baylor County, Texas. She attended Seymour High School and graduated in 1949. She went to Hardin College in Wichita Falls where she met and married Louis Weekley in 1950. Kathryne taught elementary school, beginning in 1959, until she retired from Alief Independent School District in Houston in 1995. Along the way, she earned both her both her bachelors and masters degrees in education. In 2000, she moved to Plano to be near her family and there made many friends in her neighborhood, through her volunteer work at Haun Elementary and at her Sunday school class. Kate also kept vigil over the MD Anderson Children's Christmas cards at various stores during the holidays and will be remembered for her green thumb and love of flower gardens.
Kathryne is preceded in death by her parents, her son Mark Louis Weekley, brother Burrell Lee, and sister Marcena Franklin and survived by her daughters Jan Weekley of Rockport, Texas, Nancy Weekley of Tyler, Texas, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Susie Weekley of Frisco, Texas, grandchildren Andrew Speer of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth Speer of Rockport, Texas, William and Marggie Weekley of Frisco, Texas and Katy Weekley of Dallas, Texas, 2 great grandchildren Addie and Lucy Weekley, brother and sister-in-law Charles and Betty Lee of Fort Worth, Texas, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 75075 on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bart Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Seymour Masonic Cemetery on Friday, July 10th at 1:00pm.
