Glen Bolton

July 31, 1932 — May 15, 2015

Cecil Glenford Bolton "Glen" peacefully passed on May 15, 2015 with family by his side.
He was born July 31, 1932 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Cecil Glenford Bolton and Wellie Lorene Stribling.
Glen is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy, whom he married on Valentine's Day 1961, his daughter Kari and husband Randy Gates, son Jeff Bolton and his wife Lisa, his grandchildren Jena and Ryan Gates, Lindsey and Lucas Bolton and great granddaughter Rylie Grace Gates. He also is survived by sisters Bertie Lourene Stebbins, Jetta Allen and her husband Jim, brother in law Gary Summers and his wife Debi as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews that he was so very fond of.
Glen was preceded in death by his birth mother Wellie, loving parents Mama Bertie, Daddy Glen Sr., sister Jeannine Donahue and brother in law Frank Stebbins.
Glen served in the Army for two years and then entered Mississippi State University where he received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering in 1956. Glen spent many years in the aerospace field where he worked on projects ranging from the Apollo rockets, to space shuttles and everything in between. He was a legit "rocket scientist"
An avid inventor, Glen's many inventions have earned him patents. From quick disconnect systems for the B70 bomber to unique board games, the list is long. Glen designed the first skateboard in 1956, numerous radio control toys, emergency gas shut off valves, water saving devices and this is only a small sample of what he created. He never stopped thinking
Glen's amazing intellect, energy and passion for thinking outside the box is what made him special.
He loved dogs, music, playing tennis, chess, ping pong, reading, watching anything on the Discovery Channel and sports; especially football. Recently, he got to attend a Mississippi State Bulldog football watching party where he was so happy to visit with all of the alumni, young and old. He was quite the celebrity that day as he was the oldest Bulldog there.
Despite all his accomplishments, Glen was most proud of his family, his legacy, and all his family are honored to be his kin.
Services will be held at the Murphy Baptist Church, 800 N. Murphy Road, Murphy, Texas on Friday June 5, 2015 at 4:00pm
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for people to donate to their favorite charity in his memory.
