Dick was born in Muncie, Indiana on August 17, 1946 to Ivan and Eva Case. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964 and enrolled at Indiana State University on a golf scholarship. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in education; he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After a short stint as a teacher, he followed his dream and spent two years as a golf professional in Anderson, Indiana. He later joined the family business which became the springboard to his lifelong career selling building materials. He retired on December 31, 2012, and he was given his diagnosis of ALS a short eight months later. While his disease steadily sapped his strength, his spirit stayed strong. His will endured, and his deep love never wavered. Dick's earthly pain mercifully ended on the morning of January 19, surrounded in faith by his family at Baylor Hospital of McKinney. "Papaw" had two great joys: his family and his tee time. His happiness, humility, and humor will continue to be held dearly in the hearts of those who loved him. Dick is survived by his loving wife Candy, children Craig Case, Christine Mogan and her husband Chris, grandchildren Bailey and Hunter Mogan, mother Eva Case, brother Gene Case and his wife Becky and many loving nieces, nephew and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ivan Case. A celebration of Dick's life will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Rd, Plano, Texas 75075. A reception will follow the service at the church. The family suggests, if desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in remembrance of Dick to Christ United Methodist Church General Fund, 3101 Coit Rd., Plano, TX. 75075 or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, www.mda.org/
