Deacon Bill Flynn

November 30, 1942 — January 7, 2015

Deacon Joseph William "Bill" Flynn passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2015 surrounded by his family. Deacon Bill won his battle with pancreatic cancer as he was welcomed into the arms of the Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael Denis and Mary Lillian Flynn. Bill was born in Sudbury, Ontario on November 30, 1942 and was raised in Rochester, New York as the oldest of four siblings. Bill completed his undergraduate studies at John Carroll University and later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. Bill was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army in 1964 and he served in West Germany until he was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1967. Bill continued his studies through the Catholic Church and he was ordained as a Deacon for the Diocese of Dallas in 1987. Bill was the first Deacon to serve at St. Jude's in Allen, Texas and he has faithfully served the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, Texas since 1990. Bill is survived by his wife Janet and his children Dennis (Brenna), Tim (Cassie) and Megan (Dustin Fredley) as well as his grandchildren Brynnlee, Davis and Zachary. He is also survived by his siblings J. Raymond (Jan) Flynn, Carolyn Massaro (Lou) and Maureen Gavin (John) and many nieces, nephews and in laws. A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to pancan.org in Bill's name or to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Elizabeth's.
