Leslie (Les) Ernest Wyatt, 64, passed away December 11, 2014, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Les put up a valiant fight but knew that with Jesus Christ by his side, his fight couldn't be lost. As he was called home, he never lost his faith and knew he would be with the Lord.
Les was born April 24, 1950, to Iva Lucille and Leslie (Pete) Wyatt in Cottonwood, Arizona. Growing up, his friends and family called him Murphy. He spent his childhood in both Arizona and Oklahoma, and attended and graduated from Arizona State with both a BS and MS in Mathematics. After graduation he began his professional career with Texas Instruments in Houston, Texas, before moving to Austin, Texas, where he enjoyed life, family, friends and continued work successes. He went on to become the CEO at two different companies, heading up large company marketing organizations, and eventually working on an international level in Dubai. He was both a mentor and a wise leader. Les got great pleasure from teaching - especially the many Bible study classes that he led over the years. God blessed him with an insightful ability to share His words, and he touched a great many people.
Upon retirement, Les was inspired to serve others through the ministry. His deep faith and beliefs provided him the strength he needed during his illness.
With all that success, Les was most proud of his family, who provided him with so much love and support. Les is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen, and two daughters, Leslie Rae and Madeline Rose Wyatt - all of Plano, and one brother, Roger Wyatt, currently working in Saudi Arabia.
Les loved music and played the piano and sang at any given opportunity and place. He was a jogger, a bike rider, a sailor of Hobie Catamarans as well as a hiker and camper. Les was an avid sports enthusiast and loved NASCAR, baseball and tennis. Les was a great storyteller and especially loved to tell stories about his family and his youth.
He leaves behind an enormous number of friends, all who will miss him dearly and appreciated his special qualities. He is known for his sense of humor and love of people. Everyone has a favorite Les story and will no doubt want to share those with friends and family. He was extremely intelligent, generous to a fault, intuitive, kind, and of course, he had those movie star looks! He is loved.
There will be a memorial service held to celebrate Les's life on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Rd., Plano, Texas 75023. If desired, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or 888-227-2345
