Liberato (Tito) Maldonado

September 8, 1922 — October 21, 2014

Liberato Maldonado, 92, was a great man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and friend. Everyone knew him as Tito. He will be missed by family and friends alike.

Liberato was born September 8, 1922 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Manuel Reyes Maldonado and Donaciana Lopez Maldonado. He grew up in Mineral Hills, near Las Vegas. He loved horses and the outdoors.

Mr. Maldonado was stationed in France during WWII in a transport division which took heavy equipment to the front lines. While there he met the love of his life, Annick, a French girl of 17, whom he was married to for 68 1/2 years.

After the war, Tito attended carpentry school which enabled him to make furniture and wooden items for family and friends.

He worked in Las Vegas as a heavy equipment operator in construction for 20 years, for the Highway Department for approximately six years. When Tito and Annick moved to Texas, He worked for the City of Plano, Parks Department for 18 years and retired in 1994.

He and Annick really enjoyed dancing especially the polka. In. addition, fishing and hunting with the family was very important to him.

Tito never met a stranger. If he heard someone speak Spanish or French he would introduce himself and immediately start a conversation with them.

One thing everyone will remember about Tito was his great sense of humor. He was funny and goofy especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of the fond memories with him were watching television westerns as well as having his back massaged by walking on his back.

Mr. Maldonado, is survived by his wife, Annick, daughters Paula Freeman and husband Wayne, Paulette Clement and husband Clark. Surviving Grandchildren are Suzette Freeman, Kelly Perrin and husband Steve, Clark Clement III and wife Debbie, and Julie Clement. Three great grandchildren are Elaine Clement, David and Charlotte Perrin.

Tito's other surviving siblings include Bennie Gonzales and wife Carmen, Diana Maldonado, Jose Issac and wife Theresa, David Maldonado and wife Yvette, and Rosario Maldonado and David. Tito also has many nieces and nephews in NM and France.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023.
