Mark Mcmahan

October 30, 1963 — October 11, 2014

Mark Allan McMahan spent the first 12 years of his life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his birthplace. His parents were Jerry and Judith (Sheehy) McMahan. Mark, and his younger brother Sean, moved with their parents to Canada in 1975. Two years later, they moved to Plano, Texas. Mark graduated from Plano Senior High School and North Texas State University and went to work in the financial industry spending time at some of the major banks in the country as well as smaller companies. In 1993, he married Susan Stuart Gaudsmith. Three sons, Colin, Brendan, and Dillon resulted from this union. All are active boy scouts working toward the achievement of Eagle rank. His sons were the one thing that Mark was most proud of, and he enjoyed taking trips with them and watching them participate in sports. Mark and Susan divorced after the birth of their children, but still remained friends with both strongly supporting the development of their sons.
Mark's occupation was a benefit to his favorite pastime - fantasy football. He loved the competitive nature of the game and was known by his nickname of sofakingdom. He disliked summer because there was no football and, thus, no fantasy football. He couldn't wait for the coming of fall and meeting with his fellow players for the start of another season.
Mark passed away on October 11, 2014, at the Medical Center of Plano. He is survived by his sons and parents who all live in Plano. His brother Sean and family live in the Chicago area and his grandmother, Imogene McMahan, lives in Marion, Iowa. He will be sorely missed by his family, fellow fantasy football players, and several close friends.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Mark's life at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Richardson, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas 75080, with Reverend Rich Rindfuss officiating. The family suggests, if desired, memorial contributions be made in Mark's name to Boy Scouts of America, www.scouting.org
