Memories of Andrew as told by family and friends:
My little brother Andrew was an amazing person overall. He always was willing to help anyone, anytime. One particular fond and outstanding memory I have of him was his graduation from Melissa High School. I didn't have one so, being able to watch my little brother graduate and seeing him so full of potential was so amazing for me. So full of ambition and potential for the future and that is how I will always remember him. - Matt Gibson
Before I moved out Andrew and I were very close. Nearly every day we would do something together be it playing games or just watching TV. I remember we used to play one-on-one basketball out front all the time. He loved basketball and played all the time. I used to cheat but he never stopped playing. Eventually, he started beating me anyway even though I was cheating and had probably a foot and a half on him. He was a talented and hardworking kid. When we were younger he always wanted to play with me and do what I was doing. I know he looked up to me as his brother. I'm just thankful I got to be a part of his life the way I was. - Zach Gibson
I can see the little boy who I meet on Halloween of 2005. I watched you play baseball and football. I will never forget the talks we would have. You made an old lady very happy the day you played basketball with Dorothy, Jamie's mother. I have so many wonderful times to remember you. You are a wonderful young man who I will miss dearly. Love you Andy! - Paul Gorman
Andrew would bring out the Best in You! Andrew was funny! Andrew loved to laugh at himself! Andrew loved his family! Andrew was a good friend! Andrew was all heart! Andrew has an old soul! Andrew was more special than he ever knew! Andrew will always live in our heart, we will NEVER forget!
The words I think of when I think of "Andy" Andrew are; sweet, goofy, strong, honest, funny and loving. He was always aware of people's feelings around him. He always wanted to do the right thing. He loved his mom and he loved his family. Andy had a special bond with his grandpa Fred who passed away in 2002. I know Andy touched many people in his life, we all loved him dearly.
Oh sweet Andrewlove him so much! He was in elementary school when we moved in. After our families became friends and we started hanging out together, Andrew was ALWAYS hunting his mom down and the first words out of his mouth, were "Heywhat's for dinner?" We have laughed about that for years and will continue to laugh for years to come! We will hold his memory dear in our hearts FOREVER! - Jamie Gorman
Andy was a very sweet and caring person. Who always had jokes to tell, and I always looked forward to our visits and his sense of humor. I have been blessed to be a part of his life and he will be greatly missed but NEVER forgotten. Love you Andy!
Earliest memory of that sweet round face, when Andrew was three and his mom's ring bearer, I recall him saying "I can do this! I want my mommy to be happy and now I have two daddy's to play with." You will always be in our thoughts and prayers. - Nanny
When Andy was three or four, he was watching pawpaw trying to cut down a large branch. Pawpaw was having a hard time with it and Andy said, "You want me to get a hammer!" Just like Andy wanting to help even at an early age, the kid was all heart! - Bryan & Melissa
"Little Andy" as known by many was bright, kind-hearted, and always hungry for his momma's cooking! He loved sports but basketball was his love. When Melissa meet Bryan, the dramatic of the Alston kids changed. We FINALLY had "boys" amongst ALL the girls. I will always be thankful for that and am blessed to call them my family. - Aunt Debi
One of my favorite memories is from around 2010 at our family reunion at Lake of the Ozarks, MO. There is a bar and grill there called The Wobbly Boot. Andrew thought that was so funny! He and I joked about that for months after the trip. We even took a picture in front of the sign. -Uncle Tim & Aunt Barbara
Andrew was always such a funny kid! I will always remember how he kept up a steady stream of very dry jokes, jibes, and ribbing directed towards his grandma Gibson. He gave her grief constantly, every single time I saw them together. Those of us "in the know" would watch the show from the periphery and try to keep our laughter under wraps which wasn't easy because It was hilarious every time! We never knew when he would strike, we never knew what he would come up with. It became a favorite spectator sport for all, especially for those of us that were raised by Ms. Reba Gibson. We marveled at how he got away with it because were we brave enough to try, we knew we would never get away with half as much. Though always on the receiving end of this, Grandma Gibson seemed to be an extremely good sport or at the very least, not take much notice. It seemed Andy had special dispensation from THE GRANDMA. Recently, while exchanging memories, I mentioned to Grandma Gibson how Andy "gave her crap" constantly. This was met with a deadpan expression and a flat out denial "Andy never gave me crap". She seemed genuinely puzzled as to what possessed me to make such a bizarre, unfounded statement. Sorry Mom, it's true! He teased you constantly, but it was done with much love and affection. He loved his grandma a lot. And let's face it, it was pretty flipping funny! -Uncle Robert
Andrew was always quiet at first, but as soon as you isolated yourself with him you would realize quickly how intelligent he was. -Brittany Alston
Andrew was always such a gentleman. He would greet you with a shy smile and a friendly hello. We would hear about him when Bryan came to town. Bryan would tell of Andrew's success in basketball and in school. You could tell Bryan and Melissa were so proud of Andrew's life. I felt sorry for Andrew when he would visit the Alston clan in Alvin because he was surrounded by a BUNCH of girls. He didn't seem to mind it though. He'd join right in with playing games around the dining table. He was a good sport about it! It was fun when he would come and we'd see that he'd grown another two feet! He was definitely a guy you could look up to in more ways than one! Even seeing him as a teenage boy, I could still see that sweet, young innocent little boy I met at about the age of three with his adorable glasses, beautiful blond hair and big, brown eyes. We love you Andrew and you will be sorely missed.- Aunt Amy

Quotes by Andrew:
-"When times were tough and we didn't have a lot of money, momma cooked the best meals".
-When we moved from Plano to Melissa, Andy started a day school out in the country and told Bryan and Melissa that he liked the "Country" day school better than the old one in Plano because the teacher would eat his cookies and give him goldfish at snack time but, at the "country" day school he got cookie dough on a plate.
