Carsten (Jensen) Holmdie was born to Erik and Inger (Christensen) Jensen on January 8, 1956 in rhus, Denmark. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful son, brother, and friend. He graduated from rhus Teknikum University with a degree in technology, supplemented with business and financial education. He was an honor student and was awarded with the school district's Students Highest Achievement Award and History Award.
His life journey with his soul mate is a true love story. Carsten married the love of his life, Loni (Holm Andersen) Holmdie in 1980. They made Denmark home until Christian Rousing Systems relocated the young couple to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their first son, Thomas André Holmdie, was born in 1987 in Tulsa. The young family moved to Belgium in 1989 with EDS where Daniel Elon Holmdie brightened their lives in 1991. Plano, Texas welcomed the growing family in 1994 where they now call home.
Carsten was a coach at heart and loved coaching his sons and their friends in soccer, roller hockey, ice hockey, or any sport the boys were involved in. As a young boy, he played goalie for his soccer team. He enjoyed skiing, bodybuilding, tennis, and mountain biking. Carsten loved sports and was a fan of the Danish National Team, Manchester United, the Dallas Stars, Mavericks, and Cowboys. His hobbies included motorcycles and computers. He was an inventor with patents pending, a professional tinkerer, car tuner, and all around Mr. Fix It.
Carsten was a friend to everyone, always helping neighbors, and advising his sons and their friends. He was a very compassionate man, an understanding individual, a great negotiator and jokester. As Loni posted on Facebook this year for his birthday . . . "a heart that's warm and caring; a spirit that's wild and free and sincere; a love that's strong and secure. You're a gift, a blessing, a treasure." He touched the lives of so many with his caring spirit and compassionate heart. All the young people Carsten touched considered him their second dad and he will be missed. An independent spirit and fighter, Carsten was strong and fought the fight to the bitter end. Carsten passed away at age 58 on August 23, 2014 after an almost two yearlong battle with malignant melanoma. He was surrounded by family and friends before he parked his bike.
Carsten is survived by his wife and soul mate, Loni (Andersen) Holmdie, their two sons, Thomas Andre Holmdie and Daniel Elon Holmdie, his mother Inger Jensen of Denmark, his two brothers Joern Jensen and Bent Jensen both of Denmark, several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many cousins.
An Evening of Remembrance will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Allen Family Funeral Options. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carsten's name to http://www.melanoma.org at the GET INVOLVED tab.
