Herbert Astleford

June 21, 1925 — June 30, 2014

Herbert Edsel Astleford was born June 21, 1925 in White River, South Dakota to Charles W. Astleford and Alice Bauerly Astleford. He passed away June 30, 2014 in Allen, Texas. Owner and operator of the Astleford Paving Company in Plano for 30 years he retired to farm and ranching.
Herb was a Korean War Veteran in the U. S. Army where he earned a Bronze Star. He returned from Korea and worked for years in construction on projects such as the Houston Ship Channel and Canyon Lake Dam. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myra Astleford and his daughters Debbie Astleford Nelson and Denise Astleford- Rogers, sons in law Pat Nelson and Terry Rogers, and granddaughters Alexandria Nelson and Rachel Rogers. Herb was the 12th child and is survived by Sister Ruth Hrachovec and Brothers Merrill Astleford and Warren Astleford along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the West Allen Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Allen Family Funeral Options. Graveside services will be held at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014. If desired, the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Allen Church of Christ, 1414 W. Exchange Blvd., Allen, Texas 75013.
