Martha Knapp

February 15, 1930 — June 14, 2014

Martha was born February 15, 1930 and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the age of 84. She was raised in Louisiana by her aunt and grandmother. Martha was married to Ottis Knapp and they lived in Beaumont, Texas until moving to Dallas in 1966. The family was transferred again by Ottis's employer, Sun Oil Company, to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following the move to Oklahoma, Martha and Ottis divorced and he moved to Philadelphia and Martha came back to Dallas. At the time of her death, Martha was a resident of The Colony, where she lived with her daughter for over 20 years. She worked hard to receive her LVN license and held this license for over 35 years. Martha enjoyed square dancing and decorating the Senior Citizen Center in The Colony. She also was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Edwin J Kiest #924 in Dallas, Texas. Martha was an active member at the First United Methodist Church in The Colony. Martha is survived by son Sammy Knapp and his wife Cathy, daughter Martha Jean Knapp, son Jon Knapp and his wife Suzanne, daughter in law Cheryl Worthey, grandchildren Serena, Kevin, Amy, Justin, Joseph and Brandi, great grandchildren Cheyenne, Dakota, Caleb, Katie, Jeffrey, Jacob, Jayceeleigh, Erika and Emily, great-great grandson Gunner. She is preceded in death by her son Wade Worthey and granddaughter Melodi Knapp. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 4901 Paige Rd., The Colony, Texas 75056. Martha will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery in Seagoville, Texas.
