Carole Hannon

May 1, 1960 — June 5, 2014

Carole Marie Hannon (nee Skelton), 54, of Plano, Texas lost a long but strong and courageous 5 year battle with breast cancer on June 5, 2014. Carole was at peace, and went home to be with God with her family around her.
Carole was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 1, 1960 to Dorothy and the late James Skelton. Carole graduated from Prospect High School in 1978. Upon graduation from college at Illinois State University in 1982, she moved directly to Dallas, Texas on a one-way ticket. Carole worked for many years at Microsoft and until she was called by God, at EDS / HP.
Carole lived a full and complete life, as she was interested in many hobbies. Included were interests in winemaking, painting, volunteering for the Byron Nelson golf tournament, traveling, and was an avid cyclist throughout the Dallas metroplex community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her many cherished co-workers and colleagues, and of course her two cats and a dog.
Among the many thoughts shared by her family and friends, Carole was known to be a loyal co-worker, and a loving and generous aunt, sister, and daughter. She possessed a wonderful spirit that will live on the hearts and minds of the many people she met along her journeys.
Carole is preceded in death by her late husband Rick Hannon and her father James Skelton. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Skelton, sister Jean Skelton Opitz, brothers Michael Skelton, Brian Skelton, James Skelton and Matthew Skelton.
Among the many extended family who will carry fond memories of Carole are her Uncle Robert Bors, Aunt Geri Skelton, Sisters-in-law Irene Moody, Joyce Skelton, Nicole Skelton and Tanya Skelton, Brother-in-law David Opitz, and her many nieces and nephews Shayne Nelson (Jami), Ryan Nelson, Claire Skelton, Anne Skelton, Jack Miller, Devin Skelton, Will Skelton, Kaitlin Skelton, Emma Skelton, Andrew Skelton and Ashley Skelton. Carole also had dozens of cousins everywhere.
A memorial for Carole will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas on Friday June 13, 2014. There will be a service in the sanctuary at 5pm, followed by a reception in the church hall.
Carole's final resting place will be in All Saints Cemetery, DesPlaines, Illinois, following a memorial service at St. Raymonds Catholic church in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in Dallas Texas, http://www.komen.org/
