Jesse Neaves

July 13, 1952 — May 10, 2014

Jesse Emmitt "Scooter" Neaves, Jr., age 61, died May 10, 2014 at UTSW, St. Paul Hospital surrounded by his family.
Jesse was born on July 13, 1952 in Waxahachie, Texas to Mildred and Jesse Neaves. He is preceded in death by his father Jesse Sr., his brother James and his sister Sandra.
Jesse graduated from Waxahachie High School and went on to University of Texas at Austin. He worked at AT&T for many years before pursuing a new career path in the world of IT. After obtaining an education at SMU he went to work at Comp USA as a UNIX administrator. In his final days, he worked at Bank of America as a Settlement Specialist.
On October 22, 1988 Jesse married Nancy Gralinski at Cochran Chapel in Dallas, Texas. They met at a club in Dallas after Nancy saw him dancing. A friend introduced them and they spent the night talking and dancing. Jesse proposed to her that night; Nancy accepted a year and a half later. Their son, Jason Matthew, was Jess's complete pride and joy. Jesse would often say that Jason was proof that he had done something right in his life. If those two were together, Jesse was happy.
Jesse enjoyed martial arts and received his Shodan (Black Belt) in Okinawan Shobaishi Shorin Ryu from Sensei Ilene Smoger , at the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas in 1993.
Jesse loved music, the Dallas Cowboys, watching TV and going to the movies. He added new meaning to the word homebody. Jesse's idea of a great evening was to be at home with his wife and son, all of them snuggled together, watching a movie.
Jesse and his quick, dry, sarcastic sense of humor will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Nancy and son Jason of Plano, Texas, his mother Mildred Neaves, sister Susan Neaves, niece Jessica Burns and her family of Ennis, Texas and numerous cousins of Waxahachie , Sherman, Mansfield and Ennis, Texas.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the support they have received from the staff at Total Patient Care, Raymond Porter at Bank of America, Dr Harshit Rao and the amazing staff at St. Paul's CV-ICU.
If desired, the family requests memorial contributions are made to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Memorial Services will be in Ennis, Texas on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1200 Country Club Road, Ennis, Texas and then another that evening from 6-8 pm in Plano, Texas at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W. Spring Creek Parkway.
