Frances Farabee Jones

Frances Farabee Jones went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Saturday April 19th, 2014. She was born on January 19th 1942 in Shreveport Louisiana to parents Ernest Cecil Farabee, Jr. and Winnie McDonough Farabee. The Family relocated to Jonesboro, Arkansas where she grew up and went to school.
Frances was co-valedictorian of the 1959 Class of Jonesboro High school. She was involved in many organizations throughout her school years, including Class Vice President, Modern Music Masters Vice President, active member of the band where she played the clarinet and National Honor Society. She attended Arkansas State University where she received a BS degree in Biology and a minor in History. While at ASU she was the President and member of Alpha Omicron Pi society. Frances graduated as a student of distinction and received the prestigious R.E. Wilson award, which was given to only 2 students a year.
After college she married Robert C. Jones who she met while attending ASU and they had one child, Susan Elizabeth.

Frances lived in Dallas, Texas for more than 35 years and was employed at Aegon where she retired a few years early so she could enjoy her life. She was kind, generous, "never met a stranger" and made life fun for everyone around her. Her passions in life were spending time with family, friends, working in her yard which she loved to do and watching sports; especially the Texas Rangers!

Frances is survived by her daughter Susan Jones Thompson, son in law Keith and her beloved grandson Oliver, of Allen, Texas, her brother Ernest Farabee and wife Jean and their family of Shreveport Louisiana and her "best-friend" Helen Napper of Plano, Texas.

A memorial service to celebrate Frances's life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at Chase Oaks Church, 281 Legacy Dr. Plano, Texas 75023. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Frances's name to Chase Oaks Church-General Fund.

The world has lost a wonderful woman and her presence will surely be missed by her family and all her friends.
