Stanley (Stan) Shutts of Murphy, Texas passed from our arms into the arms of Jesus, where there is no Post-Polio, and he was greeted by loving family and friends who were already there waiting for him.
Stan was born on June 19, 1939 and raised in Wichita, Kansas by parents Harold and Erma Shutts. He graduated from East High and attended Wichita State University. For 20 years, Stan worked full time supporting and loving his family while commuting 75 miles each way to attend classes part time at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas where he ultimately attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. A good education was important to Stan.
Next to loving his Lord, family was the most important thing in Stan's life. He loved being a home amateur radio operator, water skiing, reading, square dancing and camping. Stan's professional career included positions with Kansas Gas and Electric, the City Water Department and Vulcan Materials all in Wichita. He was also the Lab Supervisor at Camex in Borger, Texas and was a Chemical Engineer for both E-Systems and Raytheon Corporation in Garland, Texas.
Stan is survived by his wife Pauletta Shutts, who he married on his birthday in 1959, children Patricia (Patty) Poort and her husband Neil, Michael (Mike) Shutts and his wife Sharol, grandchildren Aaron Williams, Carl Poort, Justin Poort and his wife Cheriti, Joshua, Joel and Joanna Shutts, sisters Jody Sebert and her husband Harry, Janet Baird, sister-in-law Herma Shutts, brother-in-law Earl Sanderson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Stan was preceded in death by grandson Brian Williams, brother Gerry (Ike) Shutts, sister Eva Sanderson, brother-in-law Bill Baird and sister-in-law Wynona Smith.
The family will receive friends at an Afternoon of Remembrance between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday April 27, 2014 at Allen Family Funeral Options.
