Beatrice Santner

May 6, 1955 — April 18, 2014

Beatrice Fleo Santner, a woman of faith, family and community, was born on May 6th, 1955 and passed to eternal life on Good Friday, April 18th, 2014. Her compassion and vibrancy was displayed through her liturgical ministry, love of sacred music and gathering friends and family around the table. She is survived by her husband, John Santner; children, Christina Santner, John Anthony Santner; mother, Beatrice Boccardi Fleo; sisters, Cecelia "Cleo" Logan, Mary Ann (Dom) Viccari and Margret "Peggy" Fleo; brother, Anthony "Tony" (Colleen) Fleo; sisters-in-law, Mary Santner; brothers-in-law, Thomas "Tom" (Gail) Santner, Joseph "Joe" (Barbara) Santner, James "Jimmy" (Joni) Santner; five nieces; and ten nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony "Tony" Fleo, Sr.; brother-in-law, Charles Logan; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Margaret "Peggy" Santner. She was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She attended Westminster College for her Bachelors in Music and Youngstown State University for her Masters in Music Education, from the Dana School of Music. After college, she worked at various parishes in New Castle, PA before moving to Fort Worth, TX to work in St. Andrews Parish as the Music Minister. She left Texas to move to Boston, where she worked at the Paulist Center. From Boston she moved to Kansas City to work as Director of the Office of Liturgy for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. For the past 15 years, she has served the Visitation Catholic Community as the Director of Music and Liturgy. In all of those sacred places Beatrice formed community through the Rituals and music of our Catholic Tradition. A Vigil service will be held on Monday, April 21st from 5-8:00 pm at Visitation Catholic Community, 5141 Main Street, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Venue Visitation, 5141 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64112 (www.venuevisitation.net), a non-for-profit organization she founded to promote love and appreciation for music, and to create access to liturgical music for all who desire it.
