James Ronald "Ronnie" Meador, 76, of Plano died peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1937 to Roy and Mildred Meador in Magnolia, Arkansas. The bread was always accompanied by a word of encouragement or prayer.
Ronnie loved playing cards, practical jokes, watching the Texas Rangers and being present and cheering at any event his grandchildren were a part. He was slow to give advice but deliberate in living it out. He suffered with excruciating illnesses in his last years but never whispered a complaint.
He served as Scoutmaster for six years and led countless campouts highlighted by a three week bus trip to Idaho and the National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1973 with 15 scouts. He was a deacon and served in many leadership roles within the church. He was a baseball coach, RA leader and excelled at any role that required his fastidious attention to detail.

Sourdough Bread
By: Ronnie Meador (for 25+ years)
Your starter requires care. It is easier to care for when you have it in a large mouth jar with a plastic lid such as you find peanut butter in. The starter produces a gas and for that reason you should not store it for long periods of time with the lid tightly closed. It should be kept in the refrigerator except for feeding.
To feed:
1. With the lid tightly closed, shake vigorously to mix the sediment thoroughly.
2. Add cup of sugar to the starter.
3. Add 3 teaspoons instant potatoes.
4. Add water to bring level to 1 inch below neck of jar.
5. With lid tightly closed, shake vigorously to mix contents.
6. With the lid loosened allow the starter to set on your counter at room temperature for 8 to 10 hours. You should be able to observe the contents slowly rolling or a slow boiling action.
For Batter:
After step 6 above, and in a large mixing bowl:
1. Add 6 cups flour. (use a "bread" flour)
2. cup sugar
3. ½ teaspoon salt
4. Mix these dry contents thoroughly
5. Add 1 cup starter (return unused started to refrigerator)
6. Add ½ cup applesauce
7. Add 1 ½ cup water
8. Mix thoroughly, cover bowl and allow to stand at room temperature for 8 to 10 hours
For Dough:
1. Empty batter onto a well dusted surface
2. Divide into three batches
3. Knead and work each batch into a ball
4. Work into pan, cover with towel (paper is okay) and allow to rise 8 to 10 hours.
To Bake:
1. Preheat oven to 350`
2. Bake for 30 minutes
3. Remove from pans and allow to dry on rack.
