Mary Ruth Garrison Matney was on born on December 31, 1936 in Wolfe City, Texas and passed away on March 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack R. Matney, parents Travis L. and Mattie Traylor Garrison, her sister and best friend Edwina Garrison Martin and brother she adored, Travis L. "Jack" Garrison.
Mary graduated Woodrow Wilson High School and married her high school sweetheart Jack. Mary was as a homemaker and then secretary for the Safeway Grocery Stores, the Department of Public Safety and later worked at several Mother's Day Out programs.
She loved her family, Elvis music, sporty cars and shopping - specifically shoes. She is survived by her daughter Karen Ruth Brown, husband Jack and grandson Travis L. Brown, her nieces and nephews Mary Beth Dees and her family, Bobby Martin and his family, Tom Martin and his family, Cathy Bravenec and her family and Jack Walter Garrison and his family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 14,2014 at 11:00 a. m. at her church, Casa Linda United Methodist Church, 1800 Barnes Bridge Road in Dallas with visitation immediately following the service.
The family wishes to thank the many care givers at Golden Acres Retirement Home for the love and care they showed Mary every day. Donations can be made to the Country Store at Golden Acres (2525 Centerville Road Dallas, TX 75218), where Mary loved to shop every day.
