Dr. Edgar Allen Newfeld was a retired pediatric cardiologist. He ended a long struggle with Alzheimers and passed with a smile on his face. Edgar is survived by his wife Lucky, three children, David Newfeld and daughter in law Megumi Newfeld, Amy Newfeld, and Ellen White and son in law Mark White and four grandchildren KayLee Bowman, Noah and Kai Newfeld and Ty White. A man with a most romantic heart, he was fortunate to marry the love of his life, whom he adored and with whom he shared a lifetime of adventures, great and small.
His medical practice was his calling, and he devoted his entire professional life to caring for children with heart disease, many of whom now enjoy a life made possible by that dedication.
He was a lover of crisp toast, strong coffee, red wine and a nice piece of grilled salmon. He was not known to turn down a serving of good chocolate or an oatmeal raisin cookie.
He was happiest among family, and always added much laughter to any gathering. Warm and comforting to those in need, his smile alone could begin healing, but his quick humor was surely one of his greatest assets. All who know him best have memories of good times that include laughter to the point of tears.
He loved to travel the world, camera in hand, appreciating the wonder of natural and historic places, snapping a library full of memories. He was not a religious man, but drew great peace and satisfaction from being in the presence of nature and wilderness. A day spent outdoors followed by a fine meal, a glass of red wine and laughter in the good company of family and friends was his perfect day.
