Between January 18, 1933 and January 11, 2014 Ginny experienced a life of love, laughter, and learning. The desire to teach others to be life-long learners led her to become a teacher, both regular and special ed. As a member of the Behavior Assistance Team in Plano, Texas, she worked with students of all ages. She had a B.A. in Elementary Ed from Baylor and a Master's of Secondary Education from the University of North Texas in 1999. She found it fun to earn this degree with students many years younger.
She valued nothing more than being a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved books, music, traveling, movies, and working out 3 days a week at the Muehlenbeck Rec Center. Spending time with family and friends gave her great joy. Playing games and having adventures with the kids and grandkids were fun and exciting to her.
Ginny and husband Norm found Custer Road United Methodist Church and the Friendship Class soon after 9/11 and discovered a dimension to their lives and marriage they had not had before. It was there that they met many new and wonderful friends whose lives they would share from then on. Although many in the class had been together since the early 80's, it was through service in the class that Norm and Ginny found their place and felt at home there. A comment about intercessory prayer from a man visiting in Colorado led Ginny to the Prayer Ministry at the church. Praying in the chapel, learning more about prayer, and meeting so many wonderful people through this ministry, were satisfying experiences for her.
Survivors include husband, Norm Alsobrook, son Dr. Randall Coffey and Elda, daughters Carol Coffey, Linda Pedranti and husband Joe, grandsons David Knupp and Johnny Wojcuich, granddaughters Lisa Knupp and Lauren Wojcuich, step-son and wife Gary and Cindy Alsobrook and step-grandsons Troy and Grant Alsobrook, step-daughter Holly Leeto and husband Raivo, and step-grandson Austin Leeto.
A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary Saturday, January 18, at 3:00 PM at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75025 with Reverend John Richardson officiating.
