Kimberly Brigis

Kimberly Ann Brigis was born Kimberly Newman on December 26, 1961 to parents James and Eleanor Newman. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, attended Eisenhower High School and graduated from Western Illinois University with her B.S. in Criminal Law in 1982. Kimberly graduated the Dallas Police Academy in 1984 and served as a Dallas Police officer, working in patrol and later as an auto-theft detective until her retirement from the force in 1992. She attended Paris Junior College and became a registered nurse in 1995. Since then, Kimberly has worked in multiple facets of healthcare to include intensive care, emergency care, home health, endoscopy, and most recently her position in Assisted Reproductive Technology Services (ARTS). In 2009, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Brigis. Kimberly frequented the beaches of Mexico with Jimmy, and she valued spending time with her son Joseph Hays and her stepson Nicholas Brigis. Kimberly sought to impart the importance of a healthy lifestyle on her family and friends, and she constantly set the example with her passion for exercise and healthy eating. She loved riding on motorcycles with Jimmy and their extensive group of friends. In 2013, Kimberly obtained her motorcycle license and had since been riding on her own until her death in an accident on December 28, 2013.
Kimberly is survived by her husband Jimmy Brigis, mother Eleanor Newman, son Joseph Hays, stepson Nicholas Brigis, and her brothers Daniel and Stephen Newman. In addition, she is survived by her colleagues from Dallas Police Department, especially Ronnie and Beverly Biggs and Frank Villa.
A Vigil will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
