Roger M Clay

December 8, 1946 — December 26, 2013

Roger M. Clay, PhD., PE was born December 8, 1946 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to parents Marvin and Helen Clay. Roger was introduced to his future wife, Barb, by her brother Gerry in May of 1979 and sparks flew! The two were married on September 21, 1979, and enjoyed 34 wonderful years together. During his working life with ARCO, he traveled throughout the state of Texas, visited Anchorage, Alaska and the North Slope, London, England and spent time there on an oil platform in the North Sea and in the Gulf of Mexico. He specialized in processed control in the building of gas plants. Roger loved to play softball, starting when he was 20 in Ohio and still played well into his 50's. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in Ohio. After his retirement from ARCO, he hit balls almost every day with his buddies. His other passion was keeping his cars clean and shiny; they were rarely driven dirty. He and Barb were parents to five cats over the years whom he loved dearly (when they behaved). Roger and Barb had fun traveling throughout the United States for softball tournament play. He had many good friends and long lasting friendships with his teammates over his 40 year career. Roger was a fun loving guy who liked to playfully tease Barb and others whom he cared for. He was much beloved by all his nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed and loved always.
Roger is survived by his wife Barbara Clay, sisters Cathy Clay Murray and her husband Tom, Jody Mazur and her husband Bob and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
