Valerie Joan Usery

Valerie Joan Usery "Joanie", age 66 of Allen, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013. She was born to the late L.M. Ted Usery and Glenda Brawley Usery on November 16, 1947. Joanie attended Searcy High and was an active member of the band, playing the clarinet. As much as she enjoyed listening to music and singing, Joanie also had a passion for reading, writing and a talent for architectural design. She was fiercely independent and a strong spirit. Her journey into this world started and ended with a big surprise when she was born in a car on the way to the hospital and when she left us to join our Heavenly Father. She was known for her sharp and witty sense of humor, unconditional love and her faith. Joanie leaves us with fond memories of her laughter and beautiful smile. Joanie is survived by her children: William "Neal" Tucker, Amanda Tucker, Tracy Tillett and husband Greg, Lynn McKee and Robert McKee and wife Kristi; grandchildren Katelyn Dupree, Garrett Dupree, Zachary Tillett, Madelyn Tillett, Hayley McKee, Cheyenne Cody, Eva McKee, Aiden McKee and Avery McKee; brothers and sisters Hardy and Joan Usery, Doyle and Carolyn McGrew, Ted and Julie Usery; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023 on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Crosspoint Church, 2101 Stonebridge Drive, McKinney, Texas 75070.
