Charles R. Pratt, Jr. entered the Kingdom of Heaven from his home on December 8, 2013 with his loving family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. "Chuck" was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 26, 1938 to Charles R. Pratt, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Roberts) Pratt. He graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles majoring in Physics. He married an amazingly loving, dedicated, Sandra Zita (Sudduth) Pratt on July 23, 1961 in Lake Charles. He was an Army Veteran. He worked as an engineer in the telecommunications field and retired from Alcatel in the early 1990's. He was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Over the years, he developed a number of interests including flying, cooking, hunting, fishing, reading, snorkeling, and all things nautical. He loved to travel with his wife and saw much of the world. Shortly before his death, he commented that, if he could go one more place, it would be to return to Tahiti. He and Sandra celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Bahamas with their children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his son, Charles "Chip" Pratt, III and his wife, Kathy of Richardson, Texas; his daughter Pamela "Pam" (Pratt) Hannappel and her husband, Mark and grandchildren Madeline and Alexander Hannappel of Norfolk, Nebraska; and son Christopher "Chris" Pratt and his wife, Cecily and granddaughters Olivia and Amelia of Ft. Worth, Texas. Chuck was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who delighted in his 4 grandchildren. He frequently voiced his love and pride in his children and their spouses. He did an amazing job of instilling a sense of responsibility, attaining high goals and valuing education in his children. He was very proud of his over 25 years of sobriety through his participation in AA and cherished his friends in the program. There will be a "Celebration of Life" service on Wednesday evening December 11, 2013 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Slate at II Creeks in Richardson, Texas and a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 12, 2013 at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. The family is especially grateful for the tremendous care from numerous physicians and nurses, as well as countless friends who offered unending support, hope, comfort and optimism.
