David Hartwell Kuester

David was born in Oakland, California on November 24, 1935 to parents Muriel and Hartwell Kuester. He moved to Houston, Texas with his family as a young boy when his father's position at Standard Oil relocated the family. As a young boy, David enjoyed hours of taking apart his James Motorcycle and meticulously reassembling it. He earned money for his motorcycle with a paper route and other odd jobs. David graduated from Lamar High School in 1953, earned his engineering degree from The University of Texas at Austin and served in the United States Army as an officer stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana. Following his military service David worked for Southwestern Bell until a career opportunity with Collins/Rockwell moved David to Dallas where he met and married Bobby Friday, in 1967. The couple have two sons, Derek and Chad. Derek is married to Sheri Grove and they have three daughters, Jade, Peyton and Reese and they live in Allen, Texas. Chad is married to Keitha Radke and they have a son, Cameron and daughter Ella and they live in Plano, Texas. In addition to his wife Bobby of 46 years, and sons, David is survived by his sister Peggy Warrington of Colorado and his brother Jim Kuester of Arizona. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. David enjoyed traveling with his family and often included them on his many business travels to Egypt and London. He had a passion for golf and computers and was the family's best handyman. There was very little he could not fix. His view of life was a glass half full rather than half empty and he could always find a way to turn a negative into a positive. He found humor in everything. David's family and friends treasured his beloved personality and special spirit. He will be dearly missed and his family finds comfort knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father.
David's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 75075.
