Mildred Earline Powell was born in Griffin, Georgia, on January 24, 1927. She was a registered nurse and held a Masters' degree in Hospital Administration from Emory University. She retired after 30 years of service from Upjohn Pharmaceuticals. Mickey loved to fish, loved the musical theater and did the crossword puzzle every day. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Ladybugs Riverside Garden Club. But her main love in life was her family.
Mickey passed from this life into eternity on August 5, 2013, in Plano, Texas. She is survived by her children William Kent Powell and his wife Marilyn, Laura Kaye Powell Mitchell, grandchildren, Michael Shawn Powell, Shannon Powell Schoellhorn, Stephanie Powell Thompson, Olivia Leigh Mitchell, great-grandchild J.J. Thompson, sister-in-law Mary Jane Andrews and her husband Kenneth, nephews Steve Andrews, Gus Andrews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband William N. Powell.
A vigil service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 6:30 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 9, 2013 also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor Henry V. Petter, Celebrant. Mickey will be laid to rest at 2:30 on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Brooke Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
