Ernest Cantu Medina was born on September 29, 1922 in Marlin, Texas to parents Joseph and Bertha Medina. At approximately 3:45 a.m. on August 3, 2013, Ernest passed from this life and was greeted by his Heavenly Father into his eternal home.
Ernest was active in his church, was a Boy Scout leader, assisted his wife Luz with her Girl Scout activities and constantly stressed faith, education and honesty in all his business activities. Ernest and Luz would have celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this coming January 15, 2014
He was a Certified Public Accountant and had 35 years of Federal Service with the United States Postal Service. While a veteran of World War II, he never talked about his war-time experiences although while serving, Ernest won a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with clusters and eight other medals for courageous service to his country. Ernest joined General George Patton's staff at the Battle of the Bulge and remained with General Patton until the end of the war.
Ernest is survived by his wife Luz Lemus-Serrano Medina, children David Lemus Medina and his wife Cynthia, Martha Lemus Villwock and her husband Jim, Ruth Medina Finke and her husband Jim, grandchildren Aaron Medina and his wife Sharon, Byron Medina and his wife Melissa, Ted Villwock and his wife Kathy, Josh Villwock, Claire Dorn and her husband Galen, Lydia Keuer and her husband Andrew, Jacob Finke and 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Allen Family Funeral Options. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery with Rev. Charles Moncrief officiating.
