James Irwin Morris

March 22, 1934 — May 11, 2013

James Irwin Morris was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 22, 1934. On May 11, 2013, he stepped peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Barbara Powers Morris; two daughters, Rebecca Morris Grimes and Susan Morris Armstrong; sons-in-law, R. Keith Grimes and Mark Armstrong; niece, Cathie Morris Mayne; grandchildren, Jonathan Grimes, Alex Grimes, Jennifer Grimes and Allisondra Armstrong; and other family and friends.

After graduating from Georgia Tech Institute of Technology in 1957 with a degree in electrical engineering, he and Barbara moved to Dallas, Texas where he enjoyed a successful career with Collins Radio, Rockwell International, and Alcatel-Lucent.

Over the years, he loved traveling, photography, fine cuisine, camping, fly fishing, and trains. For the last several years, he volunteered as an accountant with the United States Figure Skating Association. He was a great problem solver and could fix anything. We were all blessed by his wonderful sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Fellowship Church, 932 S. Greenville, Richardson, TX 75081. Condolences may be sent to the Allen Family Funeral Options website at www.affoplano.com.

Flowers may be sent directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Fellowship Church (www.trinityfellowship.org) or Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862-8200 (www.wycliffe.org).
