Joyce Fairbanks Rucks

January 17, 1930 — April 22, 2013

Joyce, 83, died peacefully April 22, 2013. Born in St. Louis, MO, an only child, she grew up surrounded by several cousins she considered sisters. Joyce attended the University of Texas, where she was a member of Delta Zeta, and Texas Women's University. She married her high school sweetheart, James Rucks on June 1, 1952.

The pride and joy of her life was her family and her family is eternally grateful for her continual love and support. The church family at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd was a center point in her life. She managed the church gift shop for many years, sang in the choir, was a member of the Women of the Church and Couples Club. She spent several years serving as a docent at Old City Park. She was active in the North Dallas Republican Women's Group, Shades of Green Garden Club, Knife and Fork Club, two book clubs, and enjoyed the Dallas Symphony and Dallas Opera seasons. Her fondest memories were those spent with family and friends - traveling, birthday luncheons, tea parties, and weekends at Lake Texoma.

She is preceded in death by husband, James Rucks and parents, Ted and Edith Fairbanks. She is survived by daughter Susan and husband Jim Janeway, daughter Karen and husband Joe Tabone all of Allen, TX; and four beloved grandchildren, Travis Janeway, Caroline Janeway, Andrew Tabone and Courtney Tabone.

The Memorial Service and interment will be Tuesday, May 7th, 10am at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Reception at church following service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to:
